Holiday shopping has started

Pumpkin spice season may have only started, but it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. A new survey finds that 34% of consumers have already started, or plan to start, their holiday shopping before November, and nearly 1 in 10 began before September even arrived. 25% say they started their holiday shopping early to spread the cost across several paychecks, a strategy that’s especially popular with parents. Another 10% say they got a head start to stay ahead of rising prices and potential tariff-related increases. Younger shoppers are leading that trend, with 14% of Gen Z and 11% of Millennials shopping early for that reason, compared to 8% of Gen X and just 4% of Boomers.
