There are some things that should just be obvious to people and go without saying — like, don’t walk into a police station with a grenade.

The Ontario Provincial Police in Ottawa issued a warning to residents after someone stopped into the station to turn in an unexploded World War II-era grenade. Authorities say transporting old explosives can be extremely dangerous for both the person carrying them and anyone nearby. Instead, officials advise anyone who finds a suspected explosive device to leave it where it is and call authorities. Police can then send a specialized explosives disposal unit to safely handle and remove the item.
