Planned Riverfront Amphitheater To Cost $300 Million; Have Canopied Roof

Private developers say they are ready to move forward with a $300 million investment into an amphitheater at The Bend in Chattanooga.
Jimmy White with Urban Story Ventures says that once done, the venue will hold more than 12,000 seats.
White says the development will draw talent, performances, and tours from across the Eastern seaboard.
A feasibility study projects an impact of more than $4 billion for the city and county over the next 20-years once complete.
White believes a new amphitheater will only expand a rapidly growing Chattanooga tourism scene.
“I’m thinking about it, somebody that lives in Huntsville, I can now go vacation in Chattanooga, have a music experience, go see my favorite show, go to the aquarium, take my kids there, go to the Lookout Mountain, experience the lakes, the rivers, the mountain biking, the climbing. I mean, we check a lot of boxes. So I think Chattanooga is prime time right now,” White says.
White says once they break ground, they expect the first concert sometime in the 12-to-18 months after development starts.
