Tony Romo Is Out at CBS Sports and Likely to Keep a Good Portion of His Money

CBS Sports officially cut ties with NFL announcer Tony Romo following his DUI arrest in July. He had been on leave since the incident, and pleaded no contest to drunk driving.
CBS said in a statement they, quote, “have mutually agreed to part ways. We thank Tony for his contributions over the past nine years and wish him the best moving forward.”
Tony signed a 10-year, $180 million deal with CBS back in 2020. When he entered this season, he had roughly four years and $72 million left on his contract, and he’s reportedly likely to keep a good portion of it.
Romo said, quote, “I’m proud of what I accomplished at CBS Sports over the last nine years. I approached my role as a game analyst the way I’ve approached everything in my life with a desire to win and be the best that I can be.
“I’m going to use this time to take a break, something I’ve never done before, and focus on my health and my family before moving on to my next opportunity. I am grateful for my time with CBS Sports.”
