Tomorrow is National Tooth Fairy Day: Teeth Are Now Worth 17% More

Tomorrow is National Tooth Fairy Day. (There are actually TWO Tooth Fairy Days . . . the other is February 28th. And don’t think the Easter Bunny hasn’t noticed!)
To celebrate, Delta Dental released some data from a new poll:
1. 33% of children go to bed early when expecting a visit from the Tooth Fairy . . . up significantly from 23% last year. (Hear that kids?!)
2. Children’s curiosity is also on the rise . . . with 30% “asking to learn more” about the Tooth Fairy, compared to 24% in 2025. (They probably saw that ad the Tooth Fairy placed, saying “Talk to your local parent or guardian to request a free quote. Terms and conditions may apply.”)
3. 35% of parents say the tradition encourages better oral care in their kids.
4. The average value of a single lost tooth during the past year increased by a whopping 17%, from $5.01 to $5.84. That’s the first year-over-year increase in Tooth Fairy-giving since 2023.
32% of kids received a physical gift this year, up from 19% in 2025.
And since 1998, the average cash gift left by the Tooth Fairy has surged 349%, from $1.30 to $5.84 per tooth. (That FAR outpaces inflation during that time, which would estimate today’s price at $2.69.)
