Hero Dog Saves Neighbor’s Life With Sharp Hearing

Lillie Ann, a 4-year-old dog in Weston, Wisconsin, helped save her neighbor’s life by alerting owners Robert and Karen Fandre to a distress call. The small dog began scratching persistently at the front door while the couple watched television, displaying unusual behavior. When Robert investigated, Lillie Ann led him down the hallway to a neighbor who had fallen and sustained injuries. The neighbor had been calling for help repeatedly, but only Lillie Ann’s exceptional hearing detected her cries. The Fandres called an ambulance, and the neighbor received medical treatment at the hospital. Dogs can hear high-frequency sounds at 8,000 Hz compared to humans at 2,000 Hz. “Of all the dogs we’ve had, we knew from the start that there was something special about her,” Karen told WSAW.
