Small businesses can worry about what a mayor is doing . . . even in small towns.  But it’s usually policies . . . not five-finger discounts.

80-year-old John Dalzell is a former police officer, and the current mayor of a small town in Quebec, Canada.  (The town is called Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs.)

And he’s been charged with stealing bottles of Bacardi rum from a local liquor store.  The incidents happened almost WEEKLY a year ago, on October 28th . . . November 11th . . . November 22nd . . . November 29th . . . and February 3rd.

Yeah, he stole Bacardi rum FIVE different times, roughly a week apart, with a break for the holiday season.  (???)  At least, as far as they know.

John has pleaded not guilty, and will face the charges in court in January. (Sounds like someone could use a drink! Bacardi dealers in Quebec:  Be on the look-out!)
