We were in Cornersville, Tennessee on June 24th for the grand opening of Dolly Parton‘s Tennessean Travel Stop and got the ultimate surprise. The Queen of Country Music herself made only her second public appearance since temporarily stepping away from the spotlight to take care of her health and we understand why. This isn’t your typical roadside stop.

Before the opening ceremony, we got a behind-the-scenes look at the space and everything it has to offer. From the decor and gift shop to the food and welcoming atmosphere, every detail felt uniquely Dolly. The goal was to create a place where truck drivers, families, and travelers can feel right at home while on the road.

Dolly, her manager, Danny Nozell, and Tennessean Travel Stop owner Gregory H. Sachs then welcomed guests and cut the ribbon on their new facility, but not before she took a good-natured dig at fellow super-sized travel stop, Buc-ees.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying some of the food. We sampled Dolly’s Southern cooking, grabbed a “Cup of Ambition” coffee, and got a taste of her famous cinnamon pull-apart bread, which definitely lived up to the hype.

Dolly’s Tennessee Travel Stop is located off Exit 22 on I-65 in Cornersville, about an hour south of Nashville.
