NBC has greenlit four new series for the 2026-27 season, including a contemporary Rockford Files reboot starring David Boreanaz as private investigator James Rockford. The updated version follows newly paroled Rockford, who served time for a crime he didn’t commit, as he returns to solving cases in Los Angeles while facing threats from police and organized crime. NBC also ordered drama Line Of Fire about a law enforcement family caught in a conspiracy, plus comedies Sunset P.I. with Jake Johnson and Newlyweds starring real-life married couple Tea Leoni and Tim Daly. All four shows come were selected from eight pilots NBC commissioned this year. The network passed on four other pilots including projects starring Emily Deschanel, Damon Wayans Jr., and Taylor Schilling.
