Why Do Martina McBride’s Daughters Only Have One Pair of Shoes?

Martina Mcbride

Kids these days are spoiled, am I right?  Well, I thought I was right until I read MARTINA MCBRIDE’s interview in People.  She did NOT pamper her three daughters because, well, it’s the right thing to do.

She says, quote, “I feel like it robs them of their satisfaction when they do a good job, or they earn something.”  Could it be that she was even too hard on them?  Maybe.

Quote, “There have been times where I’ve been like, ‘This is ridiculous.  My kid has one pair of shoes.  Why does she just have one pair of shoes?’  But I had one pair of shoes when I was a kid, and I was fine.'”

Martina and her ONE pair of shoes grew up in rural Kansas, and she passed those Midwestern values onto her girls.  Quote, “My husband John and I grew up the same way, where you work for what you get.  So we raised them that way.”

Her dedication also affected her career.  Quote, “It was important for me to keep things as sane and normal as possible for the kids, so I turned down a lot:  TV opportunities, and touring overseas for extended periods of time.  But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

(Martina’s well-adjusted daughters are 26-year-old Delaney, 23-year-old Emma, and 16-year-old Ava.)
