The Safest and Least Safe U.S. Cities in 2021
WalletHub put out its annual list of the safest cities in America based on everything from crime and traffic accidents, to “financial safety” and natural disasters.
And cities in the Northeast did well this year. The safest city in America is Columbia, Maryland, about halfway between Baltimore and D.C.
The rest of the top 10 are: South Burlington, Vermont . . . Nashua, New Hampshire . . . Yonkers, New York . . . Madison, Wisconsin . . . Portland, Maine . . . Warwick, Rhode Island . . . Raleigh, North Carolina . . . Burlington, Vermont . . . and Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Of the 182 cities they looked at, St. Louis ranked last, just behind Fort Lauderdale, Florida and San Bernardino, California. America’s five biggest cities didn’t rank high either: New York is 99th . . . L.A. is 168th . . . Chicago is 114th . . . Houston is 148th . . . and Phoenix is 109th.
As for Chattanooga, we didn’t look good either. We are number 171 out of 182.
