Tennessee Student’s 3D-Printed Dentures Give Thousands Their Smiles Back

Connor Gibson, a 22-year-old engineering student at Walters State Community College in Tennessee, is using 3D printing technology to provide free dentures to underserved patients through nonprofit Remote Area Medical. Gibson taught himself digital dentistry software, cutting denture delivery time from three months to just hours. He now produces up to 35 pairs weekly using two 3D printers he secured through grants. The nonprofit’s CEO, Chris Hall, has called Gibson a “leading expert in the expansion of digital dentistry.” Gibson has since outfitted thousands of Americans with free dentures. “To see that raw, human emotion and just know that I played a change in this person’s life… it’s very humbling, and I’m beyond blessed,” Gibson told CNN.
