Fast food may be fast, but it’s not so cheap anymore, and value matters more than ever. A new study from NetCredit compared cheeseburgers from 14 major chains by looking at both price and the actual cooked weight of the meat to determine which is the best value. And the winner is … Whataburger. Even though its basic cheeseburger costs more than most — nearly $6 — it packs a hefty 3.56‑ounce cooked patty, which is about the size of a McDonald’s Quarter Pounder before it’s cooked. That works out to $1.66 per ounce, beating McDonald’s, Smash Burger, Burger King, and the rest of the field. The worst value can be found with the Little Cheeseburger at Five Guys.
