Mark Chesnutt shared details about his battle with alcoholism and his path to sobriety. The 62-year-old discussed his struggles during a radio interview. Chesnutt revealed that at his lowest point, he consumed approximately one handle of vodka daily. “I quit drinking, and that was a big deal for me. It just about killed me,” he stated. “There’s no other way to say it. It almost killed me.” His drinking escalated significantly following 2021 back surgery when physical limitations left him feeling miserable. What began with beer and whiskey progressed to wine, then vodka. “I graduated to the vodka, and started hitting the vodka really hard. Me and ole Tito’s, best friends for a long time. I’d go through about a handle [a day]. It got bad,” he explained. Despite undergoing quadruple bypass surgery in June 2024, Chesnutt reports feeling healthier than ever and no longer experiences alcohol cravings. Story URL
