A wayward iguana delivered quite a scare to a bunch of FedEx employees in Memphis when it broke free from its shipping box and began running around the store.

Owner Roderick Duncan, who was expecting delivery of the slippery critter, was called to the location to pick up his new pet because the weather was hot and he knew the building would be air conditioned.   The company allows certain harmless reptiles to be shipped domestically using overnight services, though the shipper must receive prior approval and use FedEx-approved packaging.

Duncan, who captured the reptile without incident, said he is currently letting the iguana settle into his enclosure before beginning to feed and handle him more regularly next week. “He’s pretty chill,” Duncan insists. “He hasn’t really jumped or anything now.”
