Compass Records is releasing a Stanley Brothers tribute album, Where the Soul Never Dies, on November 6th. The project features an impressive roster of artists honoring the bluegrass pioneers. Highlights include Billy Strings and Drew Emmitt on “If I Lose,” Dolly Parton and The First Ladies of Bluegrass on “Bound to Ride,” Jamey Johnson and Shawn Camp on “Rank Strangers to Me,” and Willie Nelson and Sierra Ferrell on “I’ll Fly Away.” Steve Martin and Ed Helms also appear alongside Alison Brown. Several tracks were performed live during the Stanley Brothers’ Country Music Hall of Fame induction on October 18th. Ralph and Carter Stanley pioneered modern bluegrass, with Carter writing standards like “The White Dove” before his 1966 death. Ralph continued leading the Clinch Mountain Boys for another 50 years.
