Christopher Levon Kelly is on that Pickin’ Porch

Local musician spends his days selling vinyl records!

CHATTANOOGA TN:  Christopher Levon Kelly was born in Hammond, Indiana, but soon found himself in Rockwood, Tennessee by the time he began elementary school. He has had an interest in music as long as he can remember. His earliest memories, musically speaking were hearing John Denver and watching his TV special. Along with listening to both country and rock radio in the 70’s, he knew he wanted to be a musician.

As Christopher grew into his early teens, his begging or pleading for a guitar finally come to fruition when he acquired a Sears and Roebuck guitar right out of the Christmas catalog. He found the guitar nearly impossible to play, but he continued to persevere.

As he learned, he developed an enormous interest in the blues through artists like Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and Freddie King. By the time he was 18, he was playing lead guitar with several bands around East Tennessee. 

Christopher has done almost everything you can do in the music business. From selling merchandise to being a booking agent in Fort Worth, and also, becoming a music journalist for the Crested Butte Weekly Magazine in Colorado.

He still performs when can doing mostly solo acoustic gigs. Performing classics from The Band, Hank Williams, Gram Parsons and Gordon Lightfoot to name a few, he can be found from time to time sitting on a bar stool and singing his heart out for anyone willing to listen. He’s performed in venues in Fort Worth, Tampa, New Orleans, Nashville, Western Colorado and Chattanooga.
