Thomas Rhett Took Big Band Approach With Christmas Classics

Thomas Rhett's newly-released Christmas EP, Merry Christmas Y'all, features four classic holiday songs with a big band twist that he tells us was a fun way to experiment with a different sound. "We put a couple Christmas songs out a couple years ago, and it was so fun to do. It was so fun to tap into just a different lane besides what we normally do. And in this go around, specifically for these four songs, I wanted to kinda go with the big band approach. I love listening to old Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra Christmas songs. All in their own right were kinda challenging, and it kinda changed my brain to think differently, and gave me a way deeper appreciation for all the classic singers that used to sing like, in the room with the strings and the brass. And a really, really fun project to make, and somethin' that I would love to do again."

Merry Christmas Y'all features four songs -- "Winter Wonderland," "Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas."

Thomas currently sits inside the Top Five and climbing with "Half of Me" featuring Riley Green.

He will be performing the title track of his latest album, Where We Started, with Katy Perry on next week's CMA Awards, airing live from Nashville on November 9th on ABC.

Dolly Parton Doesn't Plan To Tour Again

Dolly Parton's touring days are behind her. While she's certainly not done with performing, she recently told Pollstar, "I do not think I will ever tour again, but I do know I'll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore."

Dolly cites the time and energy it takes to endure a tour, in addition just to wanting to stay close to home and to her husband of more than 50 years, Carl Dean. She said, "We're getting older now, and I don't want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time. Something could happen. I would not feel right about that, if I were gone and somebody needed me. Or I would feel bad if I had to leave a tour if somebody got sick at home and needed me and then I had to walk out on the fans."

Dolly, who is 76, completed her last tour in 2016, playing 60 shows across North America.

Dolly also says she's working on a rock album and would love to enlist Stevie Nicks or Lady Gaga to make a guest appearance.

Her new holiday special, Dolly Parton's Magic Mountain Christmas, is set to air on NBC on December 1st at 8 p.m. ET. The show features guest appearances by Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams and Miley Cyrus.

In the meantime, Dolly will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November 5th in Los Angeles.

Jason Aldean & Wife Spoof 'Anchorman' On Halloween

Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany Aldean, always turn out for Halloween and this year was no exception. Yesterday (Monday, October 31st) the couple shared an almost four-minute video of them spoofing Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy as Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone that pokes fun at Luke Bryan, Kane Brown and the recent social media feud between Brittany and Maren Morris.

The couple's "Nashvegas" newscast was posted on Jason's social media with the caption, "Breaking News Happy Halloween from Ron, Veronica and the Channel 4 News Team. #fakenews."

At the end of the clip, Brittany says, "Stay woke everyone," as Jason adds, "you can be woke in country, so, stay country and we'll see you tomorrow."

Brittany and Maren got into a war of words on Twitter back in August when Maren perceived Brittany's post to be "transphobic." At one point, Maren tweets Brittany telling her to "Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie." Jason and Brittany tell each other to "zip it" at the end of their newscast.

Darius Rucker Ran From Haunted House

Halloween may be over but Darius Rucker can testify to the fact that spooky happenings don't just occur on October 31st. He was in the process of renovating an historic mansion in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina for his show on The Design Network called Rucker's Reno earlier this year and, as he tells us, it's quite possibly haunted. "Oh, I slept in there a couple nights, and you could feel it. (laughs) You could feel it. You know it, but of course it is. It was built in the 1700s. The first night I was laying there, and I turned the TV off, and the TV goes into the ceiling. I turned the TV off, and I was there for three minutes, and I could feel it. It's an old house and it starts creaking and everything, and I got up and put my shoes on and ran back outside to my other house. (laughs)"

All six episodes of Rucker's Reno are available for viewing on tdn.tv.

Darius recently released "Ol' Church Hymn," featuring America's Got Talent trio Chapel Hart. He co-wrote the song for his upcoming album.

Governor Ron DeSantis joined Luke on stage to announce the pledge, which reportedly upset some concertgoers. Luke turned to Twitter yesterday (Sunday, October 30th) to address being "run down" for this on socia media over the weekend. He wrote in part, "I grew up in a country where if a governor asks you if they can come and raise awareness to help victims of a natural disaster you help . . . I knew people would chatter about this but for me the more important piece was: If I am going to come back there a few weeks after a large portion of people have been affected by a natural disaster in a state where people have been good to me, this felt right . . ."
