Ticketmaster Cancels Taylor Swift Ticket Sales After Extraordinarily High Demands

After more than 2 million tickets were sold for Taylor Swift's 2023 Eras tour through Ticketmaster's Verified Fan presale on Tuesday, the ticketing company announced Thursday (11-17) that a planned general sale for all other customers has been canceled.

Ticketmaster stated that it was due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory.

While many fans were able to get tickets on Tuesday, others were left waiting in hours-long Ticketmaster queues that eventually either crashed or sold out. The company later issued a statement about "historically unprecedented demand."

The site was supposed to be opened up for 1.5 million verified Taylor Swift fans and instead had 14 million people hit the site — including bots.

Swift's last concert tour in 2018 sold a total of 2.8 million tickets across 53 global dates and became the highest-grossing U.S. tour of all time. Her upcoming tour features 52 shows in North America alone.

The Eras tour is set to kick off in March in Arizona, and will hit a number of cities across the U.S. before wrapping things up in Los Angeles in August.

More than 90% of the ticketing inventory is already gone, breaking the record Tuesday for the most tickets ever sold in a single day by a touring artist.

It's unclear how the remaining tickets will be distributed or sold.

TL;DR:

  • After more than 2 million tickets were sold for Taylor Swift's 2023 Eras tour Ticketmaster announced Thursday (11-17) that a planned general sale for all other customers has been canceled.
  • The site was supposed to be opened up for 1.5 million verified Taylor Swift fans and instead had 14 million people hit the site — including bots.

Taylor Swift Wins Big At The 2022 American Music Awards

Dove Cameron acceots Artist of the year award

  • "Wow. Thank you so much. This is so meaningful to me. I want to start by saying that every award that I ever win will always first and foremost be dedicated to the queer community at large. You guys have carved out such a space for me to be myself and to write music about it, and I've never felt safer or more loved and more supported, and I hope I can give you some semblance of that same feeling in my music. On the heels of what happened in Colorado Springs, I want to remind everyone how important queer visibility is and how important our community is. And I want to direct your attention to organizations like Glad and the Trevor project. I want to remind you that you are made absolutely right and you are so loved and so held, and I want to thank you for supporting me. Thank you for holding the space. I'm holding it for you too. • "This short film was ten years in the making, and the only reason I got to write and direct the short film is because you the fans chose the song all too well. You chose it. No one at a record label chose it. You picked it. You said that is the song that matters to us, and it just so happens that it was the song that mattered the most to me. Taylor Swift accepts award for Artist of the Year

  • "You know, in the past few years, I have released more music than I did in the entire decade preceding that, and I really feel like that's down to the fact that you, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear lots of music that I would make. You encouraged me. And so, I found that the more music I made and the more music I put out, the happier I was. The more I just kept that channel open and just kept creating, kept making things, and the more that happened, the more you guys were like, yeah, keep doing it. And the happier I was, so I have the fans to thank, essentially, for my happiness and -- cheers and applause -- And I love you more than I can say. I cannot express how unbelievable it is to me that I still get to do this and that you still care, so thank you underlined with 13 exclamation points. I don't know what to say. I love you. Cheers and applause" 1:23 OC...I love you Cheers and applause

Lionel Richie accepts Icon Award

  • "I want to thank my kids and the mothers of my kids for keeping my kids together. Very important. And then of course there's the people along the way. Friends who have supported. Bruce, my manager, who is absolutely a dream manager. Lisa, who is actually more of the adult in the room because she has to deal with me. I'm the kid. I'm the child. But what I want to say and take this time to do is to talk to the young superstars. God has given you a light. That light is special. That light is only given to a few. When you hear the word hip, it means today. When you hear the word inspiring, it means forever. If you get a chance to have that light on you, understand what god has in store. He is not trying to tell you that your car looks great, your clothes look great. He's trying -- he/she, mother, God is trying to tell you that you are chosen to inspire. Take this opportunity. That light is on you. Inspire. God bless you all. Thank you very much. Cheers and applause" 1:49 OC...you very much Cheers and applause

"It's a daily thing and I think learning and being sleep deprived, you know you try not to get too testy. I think we've already talked about, 'Hey, communication's gotta be key here, so if there's something that I'm doing that bugs you or that you want me to do just tell me and I'll try to make it happen.' Same way back and forth, so we're doing pretty well I would say for three weeks in. We're learning on the job just like everybody does but we're getting there. I think everyday we're getting more and more into a groove."

Scotty will release the deluxe edition of his Same Truck album on Friday (November 18th) on vinyl, CD and digital formats. The project will feature the original dozen songs, including his latest Number One hit, "Damn Strait," along with six new songs.

His latest single is called "It Matters To Her." Scotty just released the very personal video to go along with the song which features real footage of Gabi's pregnancy along the way leading up to Avery's arrival.
