Desperate times call for unusual measures, which is why some Gen Z job seekers, frustrated by a brutal job market, are turning to Etsy witches for help landing work. Instead of just updating their LinkedIn profiles, they’re paying anywhere from a few bucks to about $45 for spells they hope will bring career success, luck, and prosperity. One woman said she bought a $5 job spell after months of rejection and later found a full-time position. Etsy witches say their most popular requests involve jobs, followed by love and removing life’s “blockages.” Experts aren’t weighing in on whether the magic works, but for many struggling young adults, the spells offer something just as valuable: hope, reassurance, and a sense of control in a difficult economy.
