Here’s an interesting stat:  According to a new poll, just 5% of American adults have NEVER played Monopoly.  (Although they didn’t ask how many people actually managed to FINISH a game.)

53% say they’ve played Monopoly “many times” . . . 28% say “several times” . . . 12% say “once or twice” . . . and 3% aren’t sure.

Even though Monopoly can be a divisive game, board games in general are not. 21% of people say they “love” playing board games . . . 44% “like” it . . . 29% are neutral . . . and only 6% say they dislike or hate board games.

The younger generations are more likely to say they love board games, and they’re also more likely to have played some of the newer games you see out on there on shelves, like Wingspan, Azul, Ticket to Ride, and Catan.  Older folks are more likely to have played the classics, like Scrabble and Yahtzee.

Overall, 13% of people say winning is very important to them when they play board games.  That’s especially common among adults under 30.  Another 31% say winning is “somewhat important” to them.
