Cody Johnson Released a Surprise Cover of Merle Haggard's "Footlights"

Cody Johnson released a surprise cover of Merle Haggard’s “Footlights“ in recognition of his birthday yesterday.  Merle was born April 6th, 1937.  He passed away on his birthday in 2016.

Cody says, quote, “Merle Haggard’s music has been the soundtrack of my life.  I couldn’t think of a better way to honor him on his birthday than by sharing our version of ‘Footlights’ . . . Hope we did it justice.”
