There’s a lot of talk about A.I. safety . . . particularly whether anyone would be able to stop it if it started going down a dangerous path.

Many A.I. company execs, experts, and government officials seem to believe that they COULD pull the plug or tap the brakes at any time . . . but everyday Americans are not so sure.

A poll asked, “Do you think that if the U.S. government tried to stop artificial intelligence from becoming more intelligent than people, the government would succeed?”  And only 1 in 4 think they would.  Here’s the breakdown:

8% said they definitely would be successful.

17% said they probably would.

31% said they probably would NOT be successful.

14% said they definitely would not.

And another 31% have no clue.

For what it’s worth, Gen Z’ers are more likely to believe they’d be successful (30%) . . . than Boomers (19%).
