Petition To Rename Nashville Airport After Dolly Parton Gains Momentum

Following Dolly Parton’s death, a Change.org petition calling for Nashville International Airport to be renamed Dolly Parton International Airport has surged past 127,000 signatures. Nashville comedian Lydia Popovich originally launched the petition last year, but it gained renewed traction after Parton’s passing. Tennessee State Senator Todd Warner pledged to introduce legislation supporting the name change, while Nashville City Council member Russ Bradford announced he would sponsor a resolution asking the Metro Nashville Airport Authority to consider it. Sheryl Crow also voiced support during an Instagram Live chat. However, airport board members noted current BNA bylaws prohibit renaming the facility for someone unless they have been dead for at least two years.
