Paramount Pictures has secured U.S. rights to reboot A Nightmare on Elm Street, partnering with the estate of late franchise director Wes Craven. The deal includes Craven’s widow and son, who will produce. The untitled film, set within the original 1984 film’s world, will be lead by J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, the producers behind recent horror hits like Barbarian and Companion. In a statement, the creative team say they look forward to bringing the franchise “to a new and completely engaged generation of fans.” Freddy Krueger last appeared in a 2010 reboot that grossed over $117 million worldwide.
