New York Man Survives Lightning Strike While Walking With Umbrella

A Staten Island man survived a lightning strike with only minor injuries after being hit while walking with an umbrella in the rain. Thomas Fahmy described a white flash, followed by numbness and severe pain in both feet. WCBS Meteorologist John Elliott clarified that umbrellas don’t attract lightning but do conduct it.
