Speaking of mysteries, people heard an unexplained sonic boom in South Carolina. No one seems to know where it came from. Here is the actual boom sound and a 911 call.

A meteor streaking over New England triggered a loud sonic boom that rattled parts of Massachusetts Saturday afternoon.

NASA says the fast-moving “fireball” broke apart about 40 miles above the region around 2:06 p.m., releasing energy equivalent to roughly 300 tons of TNT.

On the ground, residents reported hearing a sudden explosion-like noise, with some saying their homes shook and windows rattled. Initially, authorities were at a loss to explain the noise, because there were no reports of damage or injuries. The boom was reportedly heard as far away as Delaware. (ABC News)
