Luke Combs had a, quote, “less than ideal” first interaction over a decade ago with Blake Shelton and music executives during a private farm trip because he was super sick.

He says, quote, “I remember thinking, like, ‘Well, this is it.  My career’s over.  I finally got invited to a cool thing, and I’m the weird guy in the room that’s sick.”

But Luke was able to have his moment during a campfire circle.  When it was his turn to sing, he told, Blake, quote, “I don’t even have a record deal.  I’ve never had a #1.

“But if I get a record deal, this song I’m going to play is a song I’ve written.”

He played “Hurricane”, which became his debut single and hit #1.

In related news, Luke will be opening up a Las Vegas location of his Category 10 bar this fall.
