We’ve seen plenty of high-speed chases involving criminals . . . but this one is, well, not that.

Police in Florida were chatting with a 28-year-old suspect named Chase Cruz on Monday, when he suddenly RAN OFF.

There weren’t a lot of places to go, so he jumped into the Halifax River, and he actually swam pretty far in.

Two officers used paddleboards to catch up to Chase, and haul him back to shore.  He was charged with loitering, prowling, and resisting arrest.
