Producers of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie are shell-abrating a massive first weekend haul of $190.1 million, one of the best showings of all time for the Easter corridor.

That almost matches the footprint of Mario‘s debut: Opening over the same Easter weekend in 2023, the first Mario Bros. Movie posted a five-day domestic debut of $204 million, including a three-day gross of $147 million, one of the best showings of all time for the holiday.

Project Hail Mary, now in its third weekend, is continuing  to do remarkable business despite losing Imax screens to Mario. The Ryan Gosling sleeper blockbuster dropped to $30.6 million, good enough for second place at the holiday box office.

The controversial bait-and-switch Zendaya-Robert Pattinson team-up The Drama checked in with $14.1 million in ticket sales, earning it the third spot this week.

Pixar’s Hoppers moved down two spots to fourth on its fifth Friday in theaters with a $5.8 million take.

Reminders of Him, based on Colleen Hoover’s novel of the same name, landed in fifth, with $2.3 in earnings.
