Emergency crews in Kansas pulled off a unique rescue after a cat got stuck inside a recliner — apparently while trying to avoid a trip to the vet.

Overland Park police say the cat was aware it was going to the vet for an annual checkup and didn’t want to go. So, it climbed into the chair’s inner workings and couldn’t get out. Firefighters had to saw open the chair, with help from animal control, but the good news is the cat was unharmed. The bad news, for the cat anyway, is that it still made it to the vet for its checkup.
