If you haven’t gotten a flu shot yet, experts say you may not want to wait much longer. Flu season is getting an unusually early start across the U.S. and activity is steadily increasing in all 50 states. Health officials are seeing cases rising weeks before the typical winter peak. Several Southern states are already reporting moderate to high levels of flu-like illness, and more spread is expected as temperatures cool and people spend more time indoors. Health officials recommend getting a flu shot as soon as possible if you haven’t already, and taking common-sense precautions like washing your hands, staying home when sick, and covering coughs and sneezes. Vaccination remains the best protection against serious illness, especially for young children, older adults, and people with underlying health conditions.
