A runaway zebra caused a bit of a black‑and‑white situation in Northern California after stormy weather sent him wandering through a neighborhood near Sacramento.

The striped escape artist– named Zeus — was quickly corralled by Placer County Animal Services, who said he was calm, cooperative, and totally stood out among the usual shelter crowd. After charming staff and spending the night indoors, Zeus was safely reunited with his owner. Officials say the adventure made everyone’s week more “stripe‑tacular,” and thankfully, no one had to hoof it for long.
