The Dolly love continues. Here are a few stories worth sharing.
1. Miley Cyrus paid tribute to her godmother. Quote, “The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour . . .
“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.”
(Spooky coincidence: Miley previously mentioned in 2023 that August 25th is an important date to her. It’s also Billy Ray’s birthday.)
2. A new tropical storm forming in the Atlantic Ocean will happen to be named Dolly because it’s the next name on the storm list.
3. Tennessee State rep Todd Warner says he’ll introduce legislation to rename Nashville International Airport to Dolly Parton International Airport. You can also sign a petition at Change.org.

5. Dolly’s overall streams on Spotify spiked over 1,260% globally, and 2,320% in the U.S. The daily top songs chart had “Jolene” at #2 and “9 to 5” at #3.
On Apple Music, “Jolene” was #1 in the U.S. and #2 in the world.
6. Dolly and her husband Carl never had kids, but they had a name picked out if they had a daughter. They’d have named her Carla.
If you didn’t know, she was diagnosed with endometriosis in the ’80s and later underwent a partial hysterectomy.
Dolly told Oprah in an interview, quote, “I didn’t have children because I believed that God didn’t mean for me to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine, so I could do things like Imagination Library . . .
“If I hadn’t had the freedom to work, I wouldn’t have done all the things I’ve done. I wouldn’t be in a position to do all of the things I’m doing now.”
