Cody Johnson To Release Album Title Track As Next Single

Cody Johnson will release the title track off his sophomore major-label release, Human The Double Album, to country radio next month. "Human" is the second single to be released off the 18-song project, and it follows up Cody's two-week Number One hit "'Til You Can't."

Cody recently introduced "Human" before performing the song at the iHeart Music Festival in Austin earlier this month by telling the crowd, "One thing we all have in common not just in the U.S. but across the world; no matter how you feel about politics, no matter how you feel about religion, no matter what race you are, no matter how much money you have in your bank account, whether you dress like me or like you do, one thing we all have in common is the fact we're Human. We are all the same. We've gone through a lot in this country the last two years. We are all doing this together. We all have struggles even though they are different. This is why I chose this song to be the next single."

Cody has added additional headline shows to his calendar this fall. This weekend's shows include his guest appearance on Luke Combs' stadium concert at Empower Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos.

Lainey Wilson To Release New Single This Week

Lainey Wilson will release her new single, called "Heart Like A Truck," and its video on Friday (May 20th). She is set to perform the song when she makes her national television debut on NBC's Today show on Tuesday, May 24th.

Lainey said, "These past few months have been such a whirlwind, but man, it was quite the journey to get here. Miley (Cyrus) wasn't playing when she said, ‘it's about the climb,' because it really is what builds character and teaches you the most about yourself. 'Heart Like A Truck' is all about self-discovery, growth and embracing scars as badges of honor. After all, a truck that has hit a few bumps and earned some scratches has proved itself and its tenacity—the shiny one on the lot can't say that."

"Heart Like A Truck" is the debut single from Lainey's upcoming studio album.

Lainey will join Jon Pardi on his Ain't Always the Cowboy Tour this summer as well as play select dates with Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs.

Doja Cat Wins Big At The 2022 Billboard Music Awards

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas last night (May 15th), celebrating artists of all genres under one roof.

Diddy, the rapper-billionaire with many nicknames including Love, hosted the event and came prepared with outfit changes and a dance number to open the show. Joined by rapper-singer Bryson Tiller for their new track "Gotta Move On," Diddy did some choreographed steps and was later accompanied by Jack Harlow, who performed his hit "First Class." Christian Combs, a.k.a. King Combs—Diddy's son—Teyana Taylor and her daughter Junie helped Diddy perform the classic "Mo' Money Mo' Problems" before Puffy turned to his hosting duties.

The night was full of notable moments, including Doja Cat taking home awards in the R&B categories, Diddy and the City Girls going off the teleprompter, Morgan Wallen and Travis Scott making award show appearances after having controversial moments of their own, Mary J. Blige being honored by Janet Jackson and much more.

Although these particular awards weren't televised, Olivia Rodrigo won Top New Artist, Top Female Artist, and Top Hot 100 Artist and Drake won Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist as well as Top Rap Album.

HIGHLIGHTS

JT of the City Girls experienced a bit of a wardrobe malfunction when waking towards the front of the stage beside Yung Miami to hand out an award. She also went off script a bit, but kept a smile through it all.

Megan Thee Stallion took home the award for Top Rap Female Artist, but was visibly surprised by her win. So much that she held a shocked face before going on stage to accept her nod. This is the second year Meg has won this award.

At one point, Diddy requested the telepromter be turned off and renamed the venue Club Love for the night.

Morgan Wallen, who was at the center of controversy following a video surfacing where he used the N-word, performed two tracks—"Don't Think Jesus" and "Wasted on You"—and also won the award for Top Male Country Artist.

Travis Scott made his first award show appearance since the mass casualty event that occurred at his Astroworld Festival back in November. Travis' comeback, welcomed by Diddy and French Montana, included a "highly stylized performance" of two new songs, "Mafia" and "Lost Forever."

Janet Jackson honored Mary J. Blige with the Billboard Icon Award.

Maxwell performed a tribute to Michael Jackson.

Activist Tamika Mallory was honored by Diddy and given the Revolt award for Black Excellence.

Naomi Judd Remembered By Family, Friends, Fans

Last night (Sunday, May 15th), family, friends, fans and fellow entertainers gathered at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to celebrate the life of Naomi Judd on the live televised River Of Time Celebration. Participants both in-person and via video message included Carly Pearce, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Ashley McBryde, Brad Paisley, Little Big Town, Emmylou Harris, Brandi Carlile, Bono, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Bette Midler and Salma Hayek, among others.

The evening included several performances, starting with Wynonna Judd singing "River of Time," which was written by her late mother.

Here is the list of performances:

Litte Big Town - "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout the Good Old Days)"
Jamey johnson - "John Deere Tractor"
Emmylou Harris, Allison Russell - "The Sweetest Gift"
The Gaithers - "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be"
Ashley McBryde - "Love Is Alive"
Brad Paisley - "Young Love (Strong Love)"
Carly Pearce - "Why Not Me"
Wynonna & Brandi Carlile - "The Rose"
Wynonna - "Love Can Build A Bridge"

Wynonna addressed the loss of her mother with an emotional speech."Tonight is a celebration and at the same time I can't put into words how devastated I am. It's the first place I've been publicly. I said goodbye to her two weeks ago and kissed her on the forehead. Her eybrows were still perfect (laughter). She was unlike anyone in our family and I miss her so much."

Prior to Naomi's death, she and Wynonna had announced a tour set to kick off in September. Last night, Wynonna revealed that she will continue on that tour, solo. She said: "So I've made a decision and I thought I'd share it on national television, that after a lot of thought I'm gonna have to honor her and do this tour. I'm just gonna have to (audience cheers).

Naomi died on April 30th at her Franklin, TN area home. According to Ashley Judd, she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Elle King, Dierks Bentley Team Up On New Song

Elle King and Dierks Bentley had a chart-topping hit with their duet "Different for Girls" in 2016. Six years later, the two are joining forces again on Elle's new single called "Worth A Shot."

Elle said, "Dierks took a chance and brought me into the country world. I couldn't make my own country record, which is my favorite album I've ever made, without including the person who gave me a seat at the table. To be honest, Dierks and I just have fun no matter what we do, especially singing and performing great songs. This song is all about trying to get back to the beginning of something, and so it's only right that we go back to where it all started for me."

"Worth A Shot" is the follow up Elle's Number One hit "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)" with Miranda Lambert. The duet marked the first woman-woman collaboration to reach the top spot on Billboard's Country Airplay chart since Reba McEntire and Linda Davis' "Does He Love You" in 1993.

Elle is currently hitting the road with Chris Stapleton as part of his All American Roadshow Tour.

Brett Eldredge Announces Tour, Releases New Song, Video

In addition to releasing a new song and video, called "Wait Up For Me," Brett Eldredge is announcing his new Songs About You Tour, which kicks off on June 19th in Wheaton, IL. General tickets go on sale on Friday (May 20th) at 10 a.m. local time.

"Wait Up For Me" was co-written by Brett alongside Mark Trussell and Heather Morgan. The song will be included on Brett's upcoming fifth studio album, Songs About You, due out on June 17th.

Brett said, "Mark and I started writing this song by the fireplace in Montana. He was playing around with some chords on the piano and I just started singing and putting a sexy feel to it. Heather was dealing with some altitude sickness that day and was resting at the time but suddenly she appeared out of nowhere with this amazing line – ‘I'm gonna keep you warm like a furnace in the winter // you can cool me off like a summertime breeze.' She arose from her slumber and just jumped right in!"

The title track from Songs About You is currently climbing the country charts.

Ingrid Andress Drops Another Taste Of New Music

Ingrid Andress has released the second track from her upcoming sophomore album. The song is called "Seeing Someone Else," which she co-wrote and co-produced.

Ingrid said, "We all grow and change, but not everyone wants us to. Some people want to keep you exactly where you are for as long as possible, even if it's hurting you. Sometimes you don't even realize it's happening. But then one day you wake up and decide the person they want you to be isn't you anymore, so you pack your sh** and break free from their grip."

Ingrid will join Keith Urban for his 52-date North American The Speed of Now World Tour starting in June.

Naomi Judd Died Of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Naomi Judd's death on April 30th was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to her daughter, actress Ashley Judd. Ashley opened up about her mother's shocking death to Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America yesterday (Thursday, May 12th), saying she was visiting with Naomi that day and left her to let a family friend in the house when her mother took her life.

Ashley said, "Her brain hurt, it physically hurt and I'm tasked with an exceedingly difficult task in disclosing the matter in the way my mother chose to continue to live … because we don't want it to be part of the gossip economy I will share with you that she used a weapon, mother used a firearm, so that's the piece of information that we are very uncomfortable sharing but understand."

Naomi's death occurred the day before she and daughter Wynonna, together as The Judds, were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Ashley said, "Our mother couldn't hang on until she was inducted into the Hall of Fame by her peers. That was the level of catastrophe of what was going on inside her."

As we previously reported, Naomi's life will be celebrated with a public memorial service at Nashville's Ryman Auditiorium set to air live on CMT. The special, called Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration, will air exclusively on the cable network as a commercial-free special on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.

Maren Morris Incorporated Personal Effects Into Latest Video

Maren Morris paid attention to personal details in the video for her latest hit, "Circles Around This Town." The song is reminiscent of her early days of moving to Nashville and trying to find success as a songwriter, and as she tells us, the video reflects both that and her childhood. "We also wanted it to feel really nostalgic so the car that I'm driving, the bedroom was like modeled after my high school bedroom growing up, and there's like pictures of me throughout that are me as a kid. It's a really nostalgic song cause it's reminding myself of why I moved to Nashville nine years ago to do this for a living and also knowing that in a lot of ways I have made it, at least the making it that my childhood self would think."

Tim McGraw is in the midst of his first solo tour in six years. He hand-picked his opening acts, Russell Dickerson, who is direct support, and newcomers Brandon Davis and Alexandra Kay, whom he discovered through social media.

Tim tells us: "I always want people out there who are gonna push me and people I learn from. Every opening act I've ever had, I've watched from the side of the stage, and I've always learned something from ‘em. And I think when you stop learning from other artists, then you should probably hang it up. There's so many people out there I learn from, from the newest artist out there to some of the artists that have been around for a long time. You learn something new every time you see ‘em. You know, I look for somebody that's gonna certainly get the crowd goin' and somebody who's gonna bring their A game every time that they perform, cause that elevates me."
