Attorney Jailed Again After Second Poisoning Attempt On Husband

Sara Baker, a former Alabama attorney suspended from practice, has been returned to jail after allegedly attempting to poison her husband a second time. Baker was first arrested in November 2025 for reportedly lacing her husband’s food and drink with fentanyl, posting a $400,000 bond shortly after. In June, she allegedly arranged for a caregiver to place a black bag containing a medication bottle filled with 12 grams of purple-tinted powder into her husband’s home. Field tests confirmed the substance was fentanyl. Her husband, James “Doyle” Baker, testified on her behalf, denying direct contact. However, Judge Gregory Williams ruled Baker violated bond conditions. “She poses a danger to our community,” the judge stated. Baker pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease and will undergo psychological testing. Story URL
