Top five movies this weekend:
1. Hoppers- $46 million
2. Scream 7 – $17.3 million
3. The Bride – $7 million
4. GOAT – $6.6 million
5. Wuthering Heights – $3.8 million

Pixar’s Hoppers jumped to the front of the box office line in its first week of release, landing $46 million in ticket sales in a rather slow week. The animated feature also notched an “A” grade on Rotten Tomatoes and a 94% rating at the consumer-driven CinemaScore site.

Scream 7 endured a bloody 74% slash to its earnings in week two, but still managed to finish second in ticket sales, with a total of $17.3 million brought in.

Audiences were not eager to wed themselves to Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s polarizing horror flick, The Bride, which landed with a thud as the week’s biggest bomb. The big-budget spectacle, which was estimated to earn between $15 and $18 million in its first week, only managed to scrape up $7 million, good enough for third place.

The top five was rounded out by GOAT, which took in another $6.6 million, and Wuthering Heights, which added $3.8 million to its coffers.
