Beloved country singer and songwriter Allison Moorer is taking a break from performing in favor of taking on a new role as writer-editor at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. The Grammy and Academy Award-nominated singer got her MFA from The New School in 2017, and has subsequently written two well-received memoirs in recent years as she took a break from touring consistently. “Art has always saved me and it has given me an incredible life. And this is just a continuation,” Moorer shared with Variety. “Landing here is a way for me to give back to what saved me, which is and has always been art. Country music is a huge part of my family’s story. It’s culturally significant and it’s personally significant. So I am delighted to be a part of things here.” (Variety)
