A piece of video game history that was almost thrown in the trash just sold at auction for a record-breaking $329,400. The rare 1981 promotional arcade poster features the iconic gorilla alongside the very first public appearance of Mario — then known as “Jumpman.” The poster was rescued from a Nintendo trash pile years ago by a former employee and blew past the previous record for video game art, which was previously held by some Prince of Persia artwork at $63,000, making it the most expensive piece of video game art ever sold.
