Earlier this year, we heard about a 33-year-old tourist from Canada who was arrested after stealing a REAL flamingo from its habitat at the Flamingo hotel in Las Vegas, and taking the bird back to his room.

Well, the man, Mitchell Fairbarn, was just found guilty of animal cruelty.

Mitchell took the stand, and said it was just a “drunken, silly pranky joke” . . . which happened “after drinking 30 to 40 beers within a 24-hour period.”  He also insisted that there was no malicious intent to injure or kill the bird.

But it was not just “silly and pranky” . . . he was shown on video smiling and laughing, while he grabbed the flamingo (named Peachy) by its neck and wings.  The bird WAS injured . . . and could’ve died . . . but he WILL be okay.

Mitchell will be sentenced in December.  He’s looking at up to FOUR YEARS in prison.
