University Of Oklahoma To Honor Toby Keith With Athletic Center

The University Of Oklahoma is immortalizing country music legend Toby Keith on its Norman campus. Following a significant philanthropic commitment from Keith’s family, a new student athlete training facility will be named the Toby Keith Family Performance Center. The indoor facility is part of a $49 million expansion and renovation of Kinsey Family Stadium, with construction beginning in the coming months and completion expected in 2028. OU baseball coach Skip Johnson praised the tribute, saying, “Toby changed so many lives. This player development facility will further change the lives of future student athletes.” Keith’s widow, Tricia Covel, added, “I know he would have loved being a part of it.” The Oklahoma native passed away in February 2024 after a battle with stomach cancer.
