A dispute between two Florida men turned violent when both pulled weapons in a Panama City parking lot. Police say James Gay, 35, drove up and confronted Everette Krichbaum, 52, following a verbal altercation. Gay retrieved a machete and struck Krichbaum in the face with the sheathed weapon. Krichbaum had brandished a hatchet in response. During the 4:30 PM struggle, both men suffered hand lacerations. Gay later admitted he “chose not to leave due to personal pride” and struck Krichbaum unconscious, then stomped him on the ground. Publix surveillance footage identified Gay as the primary aggressor. Gay was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and held on $50,000 bond. Krichbaum faces an aggravated battery charge. Gay had previously served 12 years in prison connected to a 2011 Florida teenager’s killing. Story URL
