An unusual, slow-speed police chase in western Washington ended with a driver in custody after she claimed she didn’t have to obey the law.

Hoquiam police say the incident started late Saturday night when an officer spotted a car driving without headlights and below the speed limit. When the officer tried to pull the driver over, she stopped briefly — then pulled back onto the road multiple times, leading police on a low-speed pursuit.

A sheriff’s deputy joined in before officers finally blocked the vehicle on Highway 101. Police say the driver wasn’t impaired but insisted she was a “sovereign citizen” and not subject to law enforcement. Officers disagreed and took her into custody. (KIRO-TV Seattle)
