MOTORIST SAVES STRANDED BABY MOOSE

Traffic on a busy highway came to a stop last week near Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, because a baby moose calf couldn’t figure out how to jump over a concrete barrier to follow its mom.

A driver named Duane Hogberg was stuck in the traffic jam and decided to get out to help. When the calf panicked and ran straight toward him, Duane’s instincts kicked in. He literally scooped the baby moose up in his arms like a giant puppy and walked it safely across the busy lanes to its waiting mother.

The adventure was filmed by another driver stuck in traffic who had a great view of the heroic rescue, which was described by many as “just another day in Canada.”

Duane said he didn’t have a grand plan as he was dealing with the moose — and admitted he was a bit startled when it came toward him. “It’s automatic,” he said. “Like any animal running to you. Adrenaline kicks in.” Duane went on to explain that the calf was super soft, like kitten fur — but it definitely “smelled like a moose.”
