A man from Tacoma, Washington is behind bars for assaulting a stranger in a park because he thought the victim “mean-mugged” him.

Police say a 64-year-old man was sitting with his adult son in Lake Meridian Park in Kent when the 27-year-old suspect approached them and punched the man in the face. The two didn’t know each other and had never met. Officers quickly tracked down the suspect after spotting his vehicle leaving the area. He was arrested without incident and booked for fourth-degree assault.

Police say the suspect told officers he thought he was being “mean-mugged,” or stared at, and admitted he was in a bad mood after being woken up from a nap. Witnesses also reported he had been drinking. The victim was treated at the scene. (KIRO-TV Seattle)
