Florida Man Asks Police About Faster Car After 130 MPH Chase Ends In Crash

A Lee County driver crashed his Lexus after leading troopers on a high-speed chase exceeding 130 mph Saturday night, then asked officers if he should upgrade to a faster vehicle. Florida Highway Patrol spotted the car traveling over 100 mph on State Road 82 near Colonial Boulevard around 10:30 p.m., weaving aggressively through traffic. When troopers attempted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated and reached speeds past 130 mph on Daniels Parkway while driving without headlights. The chase ended when Rivera lost control near Commerce Lakes Drive, rolling into trees and scattering debris across the area. Rivera was arrested on charges of reckless driving, super speeding, and fleeing law enforcement. According to troopers, Rivera showed no remorse and laughed while asking about getting a faster car for his next attempt. He was later released from Lee County Jail. Story URL
