A St. Paul, Minnesota man is facing charges after a dangerous incident during a traffic stop involving three young children.

Police say the 37-year-old was pulled over Monday for not wearing a seat belt and was found to have outstanding warrants, leading to his arrest. But according to court documents, three children under the age of three were in the back seat. During the stop, one toddler reached into a diaper bag and pulled out a loaded handgun. Officers quickly intervened, safely recovering the weapon.

Authorities say the gun had a loaded magazine but no round in the chamber. The man told police he kept the gun for protection, citing death threats. He now faces charges of child endangerment and carrying a pistol without a permit. Bail has been set at $5,000. (CBS News)
