The Owner of a Mustard Company Has Been Jailed for Polluting a River

They say you shouldn’t eat yellow snow. But don’t eat yellow water either.
The owner of a mustard company in New Hampshire was caught “secretly pumping pollutants into a river.” The company is Old Dutch Mustard.
60-year-old Charles Santich concocted a scheme where they extended an underground pipe to dump dirty water into the Souhegan River to save money on shipping the water out.
It happened for six years, and employees were ordered to follow along with it or risk losing their jobs. Charles was sentenced to 18 months in prison . . . and the company must pay a $1.5 million fine for violating the Clean Water Act.
It’s unclear what was in the water, but it DID cause environmental harm, so it likely wasn’t just mustard. (Although some mustard-haters might argue that the yellow stuff is bad enough itself.)
