A woman who made a bold escape from police custody in West Michigan is back behind bars.

Authorities say a woman who was caught on a bystander’s cell phone video slipping out of a patrol car window while handcuffed over the weekend has been recaptured. The Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office confirms 38‑year‑old Kendra Aney was back in custody as of Tuesday morning. The wild video showed her squeezing through a partially open window of a police vehicle, lowering herself to the ground, and then running off — still in handcuffs.

It all started Saturday afternoon. Officers spotted a car parked at an abandoned business. When they approached the vehicle, one passenger — later identified as Aney — couldn’t provide identification. A fingerprint scanner confirmed Aney had an outstanding parole violation warrant, and she was arrested and placed in the back of a patrol car. But before officers realized what was happening, Aney slipped out and took off. About an hour later, police say she broke into a home and remained on the run until she was captured Tuesday morning. She is now being held on a parole violation, along with a breaking and entering charge. (Fox 5 New York)
